Events

The Realm of the Mad God will celebrate Oryxmas until January, 8th 2019!

  • The Permafrost Lord is back and now has a chance to drop a portal to the Ice Tomb
  • Oryx’s Castle is covered in snow and scouts are reporting that a chest has been trapped in ice near the castle’s bridge
  • Ice Shards, Primal Ice, Ornaments and Bells are back and can be obtained from various places in-game and exchanged for rewards in the Daily Quest Room
  • Many Events in Realm, the Oryx Castle, the Nexus and other places in the game celebrate Oryxmas
  • Oryxmas Gifts have a chance to spawn in many of the lower level dungeons (Godlands), explore them thoroughly for some additional loot!
  • Santa’s Workshop is back
  • Winter T11 weapons have a chance to drop at standard T11 weapon drop locations
  • Winter T6 abilities have a chance to drop at standard T6 ability drop locations

Oryxmas Tokens and Quests

  • Ice Shards Quests:

    • Ice Shards drop from many places in the Realm!
    • 3 quests requiring increasing quantities reward you with a total of 5 Primal Ice and 2 Ornament per day (x5, x15, x30).
  • Primal Ice:

    • Drops from Dungeon bosses, Realm events, Chest Events and Ice Shard Quests.
    • Ice Weapon Quest: requires Primal Ice x 20 for a Weapon of Choice.

Patch X.31.1.2 + December Login Rewards + Treasure Hunting Chest Event

Patch X.31.1.2:

Changes:

  • All Halloween Tokens have been removed
  • All Halloween quests are now disabled
  • New tokens (the Oryxmas Advent Tokens) were added. Stackable up to 8, you can get them from the December Login Calendar to obtain some Mini Gods Pet Skins via Tinkerer's quest! How? Seen below!

 

-Gather 4 Oryxmas Advent Tokens and get the Mini Slime God Pet Skin!

-Gather 6 Oryxmas Advent Tokens and you get to choose between obtaining the Mini Slime God Pet Skin OR the Mini Flying Brain Pet Skin!

Important note: All quests are non-repeatable and reward choice as a type! Once stacked, the Oryxmas Advent Tokens cannot be unstacked! The more tokens you have (8 max), the more choice of which one (1) Mini God Pet Skin you can obtain! That means that,if you decide to obtain the Mini White Demon Pet Skin, you must log in until you collect all 8 Oryxmas Advent Tokens! If you use 4 or 6 of those tokens in any of the other two quests for skins, you will not be able to obtain the third quest's reward - the Mini White Demon Pet Skin.

 


Heroes of the Realm,

 

Thanksgiving is over and Oryx is well aware that his Turkey is nowhere to be found. The busy God he is, he can’t just leave his castle to search for that green-feathered escapee.

 

Oryx sent his intern Craig to the Realm to find his Turkey and bring it back. While Craig was searching for it, he came across some treasures hidden in the Realm. Being a great and generous guy, he decided to collect them all and put them in an event chest, for all of you! But don’t tell Oryx, okay?

 

To keep both the chest and himself safe from Oryx’s wrath, he put a spell on the treasure box so that it appears only when the realm is closed.

 

Race against the clock to find the Chest and break it open! Some valuable things can be found inside it.

Patch X.31.1.0 - November’s update!

November 15

Hello everyone!

With this patch, we are introducing the final changes to our Supporter Campaign, new Events in the Realm and minor quality of life changes.

The Halloween 2018 events are also coming to an end.

Additionally, we have made major changes in order to significantly improve server performance by splitting in-game chat process from the game process. More information will follow when the update hits our Production servers in the coming weeks (X.32.0.0).

Update X.31.1.0:

Halloween 2018 Events End

Halloween events come to an end with this update.

  • The Nexus and Guild Halls are back to normal.
  • Zombie Hordes, Totalia the Malevolent and the Pumpkin Shrines have been banished from the Realms.
  • Oryx the Mad God II is back to his normal battle attire.
  • All quests (except Candy Quest I) will remain available for another 2 weeks.
  • Halloween Tokens will remain in the game for another 2 weeks before being removed.

 

New - Realm Events!

With this update we will start to gradually introduce events to the Realms!

Following your feedback in the past weeks, we decided to double-down the development efforts to extend our capability to run events and incorporate the Realms more.

Starting this week-end, we will run our first ever Realm event prototype. The plan moving forward is to continue building exciting events with this new system and add more to the variety of events in the game.

New - Supporter Campaign

Our Supporter Campaign is about to launch!

  • A new tab called "Campaign" will be available in the Shop when the campaign starts.
  • Lesser and Greater Nexus Fragments as well as Nexus Crystals can be obtained to gather Supporter Points.
  • Purchases in the Shop and “Boost” will grant Supporter Points for Gold.
  • Unlock all Ranks to receive exclusive Rewards!

We are covering all the details about the feature and the rewards in the separate Producer's Letter tomorrow.


 

Fixes and Quality of Life

  • Added an indication on how many stats are gained with every level up.
  • Vial of Pure Darkness can now only be used in the Lost Halls.

Hello everyone!

The Halloween update is here! On the list today, quite a few changes and additions to the game. Without further ado, here’s the patch note:

 

Halloween 2018 Events (CLICK HERE!)


Halloween events are finally here! Events will run from today until November 15th.

  • The Halloween Nexus, Zombie Horde and Pumpkin Shrine are back!
  • Additionally, something seems to have happened to all Guild Halls...
  • But there is something else, a new magical presence is looming in the Realm.

 

Totalia the Malevolent

Totalia is a powerful witch who appears to be interested in the bone tokens from the piles of bones scattered throughout the realm. You need to fight her apparitions and ensure she doesn't accumulate any of them!

During the Event, gather Tokens and bring them to the Tinkerer for some exclusive rewards!

 

Halloween Candy Quests:

Exchange 4 Marks for Halloween Candy x 1 (Puppet Master, Archdemon Malphas, Dr. Terrible and Septavius) (repeatable)!

Halloween Candies can then be exchanged against the following rewards:

  • x25 can be exchanged for one Candy of Extreme Vitality, Wisdom or Speed (repeatable)
  • x50 can be exchanged for one Candy of Extreme Dexterity, Attack or Defense (repeatable)
  • x100 can be exchanged for one Candy of Extreme Mana or Life (repeatable)

 

Halloween UT Reskin Quest:

Exchange Pumpkin Token x 50 and Bone Token x 25 for the following rewards:

  • Helm of the Jack-O’-Naut (reskinned Helm of the Juggernaut)

Oryx 2 Additions

We have a treat for you, Oryx has some new tricks up his sleeves!

  • Increased base HP from 65k to 100k, increased HP scaling from 20% to 30%
  • 4 new phases of which 2 are picked at random each fight
  • He can not be stunned in the new phases but his initial and last phase remain mostly the same
  • Fixed an issue which made him start out with 6 Henchmen instead of 3
  • Henchmen in his first phase only respawn up to 12 times
  • Minions now have 20% HP scaling and reduced base HP
  • Slightly increased top tier and potion drops, specifically T6 abilities
  • Replaced the Oryx Awesome set drops with the new ST set Oryx's Battle Attires
  • He announces who dealt the most damage at the end of the fight

Halloween Chest Events

We will have Chest Events active every weekend during the Halloween event. Beside the dungeons mentioned below, the new Oryx 2 bossfight will play an important part in all of them. His chest will be filled to the brim with lots of interesting loot among which you will find keys to the event dungeons as well as keys to the Dungeons you need to farm for the Halloween Quests.

But beware! Shaitan has a new trick up his sleeve and may have trapped some chests - approach with extreme caution!

Fame Mboxes

During the Halloween event we will have a Mystery Box active that you can buy for fame. In the box you will find Bone and Pumpkin tokens for your Halloween Quests. You can spin the Box five times every day for 500 fame each.

The box is intended as a secondary route to your Halloween Skins, Pet Skins and Halloween UTs - make your fame count!

X.30.0.0 - Secluded Thicket

New Dungeon: Secluded Thicket

The Secluded Thicket is now available as the fourth permanent addition to the Court of Oryx! Thanks to Toastrz and everyone else who was involved!

It comes with three bosses and four new UTs: a staff, a robe, a skull, and a spell.

As Oryx saw his minions fail to defeat the heroes time and time again, he devised a plan with less reliance on brute force. Thanks to some connections with Mixcoatl, he was able to commission the aid of a remote tribe dwelling deep in the realm's densest jungle. Rather than outright pitting the heroes against another one of his underlings, Oryx instead opted to throw the heroes into these woods without hope of escape, waiting to be killed by any number of wild threats.

This accursed jungle is home to some of the realm's most vicious animals, fiercest natives, and deities of incomprehensible strength waiting for an opportunity to wield their arcane powers. The denizens exert wicked black magic, and their leader commands the almighty power of lightning itself in ways which have never been witnessed before. Brandish your mightiest weapons, for Oryx's latest bounty hunting court member means business.

HP Scaling

We've had this in the works for a while and now that thresholds are taken care of we can finally go through with it!

Most bosses in the game now have HP scaling and adjusted base HP. For the full list, click here!

Some smaller related adjustments have also been made:

  • Malphas and Stheno have slightly less invulnerability but slightly increased base HP

  • Dr Terrible and the Horrific Creation can no longer be paralyzed

  • The Horrific Creation stays invulnerable longer to give transformed players extra time

Producer's Letter: End of MotMG, Clarifications and Updates

Hello everybody,

As Month of the Mad God is coming to an end, we can put a super busy period of the year behind us and take that opportunity to bring out this Producer Letter to talk about the past, current topics and of course the future. We try to keep you updated with our patch release notes and want to make sure we have an additional and more detailed form of communication with these letters. Reality has shown that we will only be able to commit to putting these out in a roughly quarterly cycle. We cherish your input and want to keep you informed on a regular basis.

For now, let’s dive into the present and where things stand. As always we tried to pick through this sub and other sources to find topics that need to be addressed.

 

Month of the Mad God 2018 in review

Month of the Mad God is a month full of expectations on all sides. This time around, we wanted to plan for some exciting new content while also improving last year’s event based on your feedback: a new class with new UTs and a new ST set, Moss tokens and bags, rewards cranked up, Stone and Mad God tokens rewarding a skin of choice (14 exclusive new skins!) instead of being RNG-based, a brand new event dungeon with exclusive UTs, a series of event quests, fame boxes with dungeon keys, Chest Events filled with exclusive content as well as a double drop rate event in the Realm. Although we know that we cannot please everyone and that things can always be improved, we did plan a lot of things and wanted to offer you a great experience this month. Seeing some of the mixed feedback, we are disappointed that we could not give all of you the blast you were waiting for.

Some of you had a lot of fun, got great loot and enjoyed playing. Others were disappointed by the lack of creativity, the repetitive events, the fame boxes being underwhelming, the lack of communication during the month, the lag, the Ample pack, and other things. Some of you even felt cheated by some of our promotions or events (Ogmur drop rates, End of Summer sales). This is what we want to address in this letter.

 

Chest Events, Drops, and Rates

As mentioned in one of our other producer letters, we won’t discuss drop rates in detail because there is just nothing to be gained. With every event, we get feedback of too high, too low, too easy, too hard, too lucky, not lucky enough. We try to get it right and while it is not possible to please everyone, we are continuously trying to improve the way we design events. In some cases, we failed to take into account dungeon complexity or rarity (e.g. Shatters after Shaitan) and sometimes also missed the opportunity to gather feedback from the testers or the community when we could have. We want to put in place better feedback loops and rethink our design methodology for Chest Events.

The more interesting discussion actually comes from the feedback that players are fed up with Chest Events or don’t like them to begin with. We understand and acknowledge that while also seeing our daily active user numbers increase significantly. This leads us to believe that the majority of players welcome the fact that they have a shot at getting more loot. However, we see the feedback and also agree that the behavior that these events generate is not ideal: people sitting in the Nexus instead of playing in the Realm and dragging them away from realm-cycles. We will look into alternatives and potential changes that can help mitigate those symptoms.

That does not mean Chest Events are the only thing we should and can offer. The feedback about the lack of creativity echoes here as well and we understand - and agree - that they are getting old and repetitive. We have experimented with Double-Boss events but the feedback was mixed and they did not engage people as much. Even the “Event White 2x Drop Event” did not have as much reach as we hoped for it in terms of player activity. Help us change that. We are also looking forward to receiving your suggestions on the kind of events you would like to see in the game.

It is legitimate to discuss the Ice Cave event. We decided to add it to spice things up and make the event more successful and rewarding by adding Shield of Ogmur. We want to give everyone a chance at getting rare items in the game, instead of locking that content up forever behind arbitrary legacy rules. We understand that some players are not happy with that decision. Even within the community, opinions on that topic diverge.

The part that deserves an apology is that we failed to give communication the proper priority. We were so focused on making everything happen that was planned for the month that we dropped the ball on that one. One specific example that enraged most of you being when we messed up the rates of the Ice Cave Chest Event - again - and realized that almost one Ogmur per run was dropping. Like during the Winter event, we had to take action and decided to reduce drop rates but still kept them around twice as high as they usually would be, which we thought was a good compromise. While we realized it quite fast, our worst oversight was surely to fail to communicate about it immediately as we promised we’d do. But just to be clear, it is not a bait and switch tactic. Moving forward, because an apology is not enough for a mistake that happened twice, we plan to take a hard look at our event QA process. Admittedly, statistics alone do not always provide the full picture, and we understand that people can feel justifiably burned when drop rates are changed without clear and immediate communication. We will be looking into various ways to ensure that communication will not fall by the wayside in situations like this.

 

Server Lag, rubber-banding and other disconnections

Latency and disconnections are always a hot topic, especially when the game gets a massive inflow of new and old players like it did this year again. We are thrilled to see the server selection screen turn orange while buckling up to our office chairs, looking at the monitoring dashboard with anxiety.

We often read feedback that we should upgrade our servers (i.e. get better hardware) and feel we need to clarify that it has little to do with the problem. The code and server architecture we inherited are the real bottleneck when it comes to overall performance. That being said, we have implemented many changes since we took over, mostly behind the scenes improvements, and will continue to refactor and improve performance as one of our top priorities. In the meantime, it is important to understand that opening dungeons on most crowded Nexus servers (e.g. USW2) and going in with 50+ other players definitely exacerbates the issue. We are not blaming it on you, you do what the game allows and should not be held responsible for doing so. However, simple steps can help while we find solutions: move into empty realms or transfer to the Nexus server with the lowest population when popping keys.

 

Unity Support campaign, Team size, and Project Update

We definitely want to give you guys more updates on the port project in the future.

Currently, we are in the final phases of putting together a campaign feature that will allow for donations to be made and grant players some unique gifts as an additional thank you. Of course, we are aware of voices asking “is it not enough that I buy stuff in your game to support you?” and the answer is: yes, it is, absolutely. We are happy about everybody who plays our game, grateful for everybody that is spending on it and it is completely legitimate to not donate to the Unity cause at all. We tried to hint at the fact that we essentially have to double our developer capacity in order to keep Flash development running while porting to Unity in parallel - anybody who wants to support this effort with extra gold donations will help us ensure the success of the project and is deserving of special praise.

Unlike rumors that are floating around, we don’t have one developer working part-time to support the game - we may be small but we are still a full team with several developers, people that own game development and design, people that run live operations including support and the general overhead that comes with being a company that has more than one game in their portfolio.

We also saw some comments about how easy and fast it should be to port this game to Unity. This is far from the truth if you are talking about a production-ready client, built to replicate the current game as close as possible and with a clean code being refactored regularly. While working on the rendering engine, the cornerstone of the whole project, we ran into many technical issues related to the way the original flash game was created. Let’s take, for example, the camera rotation and camera offset: both are considered by many of us as part of the gameplay and how the game should feel and play but they were not “game design” decisions when Wildshadow created the game. They were workarounds to the constraints of flash with camera management and assets rendering. While porting the game, and since we decided to port the “current” game to a new engine, we have to figure out a way to also port those and that generates a lot of new problems to solve for our dev team (which have already been solved for the most part, hurray!).

New content, features and release pace

We have collected the feedback that we were not adding enough features fast enough to the game and instead just lazily hanging out making Chest Events instead.

Aside from our constant effort to provide fixes and quality of life upgrades, the features that we did publish took longer to develop, troubleshoot and polish than we had anticipated while others were discarded, frozen mid-development or deprioritized. We had a handful of additional plans for MotMG earlier in the year that unfortunately didn't pan out for one reason or another, resulting in some development time being spent without anything to show for it. This process takes a lot of time and effort and to the players, it can feel like nothing is happening.

We shared with you our roadmap for the year a few months ago. From that roadmap, we are happy that the improved friends' list and guild list, the new Pets UI and Pet Wardrobe, the new class and MotMG events were released. Other projects such as a Fame rework and Dungeon Rush are taking longer than expected as we constantly have to readjust our focus along the way, increasing or decreasing the scope based on the team’s capacity and feedback we collect.

Prioritizing is a complicated exercise and there is a ton of things that we want to do, that you want to have and that could be done in the game. Sometimes, we are also forced to make hard decisions - If we have a feature in development and realize that it will likely not properly serve the community nor us as a company then we need to do the rational thing and discard or freeze it to avoid wasting time we could spend on something that moves the game forward.

 

End of summer sale

Let’s also tackle the end of summer sale and get the fact out of the way that there was no intention of scamming anyone with the technical glitch that players were experiencing (requiring a complete reload of the game to see the updated packs). It was an actual bug that was not discovered in time and also was seemingly not happening to everyone. Additionally, we also got a good deal of flak ranging from scummy business practice to just sadness over not everybody being able to get a pack. Not quite what we had in mind.

We were thinking of a way that we could give a massive discount to close the craziest month of the year. We are a business and operating the game is what allows us to pay people, infrastructure and development, so we were not able to just throw out every item in unlimited quantities at huge discounts. We thought to make a few lucky people happy by using first-come, first-served instead of RNG, while also giving others some solid deals would be the way to go. It seems as if the very tight restrictions made the promotion go more toxic than expected. We will have to see if there is anything we can do to alleviate that pain in the future.

 


 

With Month of the Mad God winding down, we are taking the time to take stock, clean up our backlog and start fresh. In our next letter, we will be able to better outline the future roadmap for you.

We hope that this (very long) letter sheds some light on how we feel, as a company, about the way some of the things we did were perceived and that some of you felt let down during MotMG. We hope that you still enjoyed most of the events and got great loot. As usual, we want to make sure that you, the community, understands that we are in for the long run and that we deeply care about the feedback you give us.

We are looking forward to the future and excited about things to come but the challenges are big.

New! Samurai Class

After almost 6 years, it's finally time!

The Samurai class is now playable as the 15th class in Realm of the Mad God!

He wields a katana and can wear heavy armor. He uses his wakizashi sidearm to deal damage from a medium range and to inflict Exposed, a new condition effect which lowers defense by 20.

The ability also comes with a new property; unlike most other targeted abilities it does not target a tile, but can only be cast up to a certain distance away from the character.

Hey everyone, Krathan here!

Today we are happy to introduce you to the Pet Wardrobe, Cnidarian Reef and new Quality of Life changes!

Just a heads up that in preparation for the new class, the current maximum star level will be a yellow star for a while!


New Pet Wardrobe

The new Pet Wardrobe and Pets UI are here and can be accessed from the Pet Yard! They both come with a lot of new features that you might have tested during Public Testing recently. You will also notice that pet sizes are now based on the Pet's rarity level.

Collect Pet skins

Hatching, fusing or using Pet Skin items from the Vault will now permanently unlock Pet Skins in your Wardrobe. With the update, all Pet Stones / Skins that you have collected in the past and kept become Pet Skin unlockers! All the pets that are currently in your Yard have also been imported to your Wardrobe.

Change skins of your favorite Pets

You can now use the Wardrobe to change your Pet's appearance at will, for a small Fame or Gold fee. Once you have unlocked new skins, head over to the Wardrobe, select the Pet you want to change and the skin you want to apply to it and hit the "Change Skin" button.

Change Family

Skins are tied to Pet Families! For that reason, applying a skin from a different family will change your pet into that family as well as changing the skin. The fee for inter-family pet skin change is higher.

Pet feeding and fusing

The new Pets UI (accessible from the Caretaker) offers a number of new functionalities: better pet selection, better stats display and information about pets. You can now also feed multiple items at once directly from your inventory: open the "feed" tab in the UI, select the items you want to feed and hit the feed button!

We have also taken this opportunity to look at pet fusing and hatching odds - from now on most pets skins can be unlocked with fusion and hatching. Some of them will be very rare though! We also introduced some pet skin drops you might remember as eggs drops from back in the days. These are now exclusively unlockable with the skin unlockers. More to follow!

  • Thessal the Mermaid Goddess and Coral Gifts drop the Sea Slurp Skin
  • Davy Jones drops the Spirit Skin
  • Malphas the Archdemon drops the Demon Frog Skin
  • Native Sprite Gods drop the Sprite Star Skin

Speaking of old eggs... all pet-specific Generator Eggs, a remainder of the old pet system from before 2012 will now unlock skins permanently as well!

We have also rearranged abilities, to make sure every family can start with Heal.


Cnidarian Reef Dungeon Release

The underwater themed dungeon is now available in the Court of Oryx. Craig will grant you access to all of the dungeons at once from now on, so you will be able to choose!

Air bubbles are very close to the Royal Cnidarian, so watch out in there!

It comes with two new UTs: a scepter and a poison.


Quality of Life

  • Craig opens all boss dungeons in the Court of Oryx
  • Improved class selection tool tips with equipment, unlock goals and class quest progress
  • New class unlock animation on the mini map

June Mystery Shards into Summer Mystery Shards

We heard that you liked the June Mystery Shards and decided to extend them through the rest of the summer! These items will become Summer Mystery Shards and will be removed in September. You will be able to collect them in mystery boxes and exchange them for the new Mystery Pet Skin items in addition to the Mystery Skins that you are familiar with - more details on the new Rare, Epic and Legendary mystery unlockers below!


EXP and Leveling

In preparation for the fame rework, we have made some changes to the way EXP is calculated. Other changes as a result will slightly change the leveling experience.

  • Exp gained from regular enemies no longer bypasses the next level 10% limit.
  • The exceptions are all quest enemies, which will now always grant up to 16%.
  • Heroes and level 20 quests are prioritized if the player is level 20.

Guild tab is going live as the first item on the Roadmap, we're excited about it and looking forward to your feedback on it. The Friends list and Guild List are now combined under the "Social" UI and bring a set of quality of life features targeted at social interactions in the game.

The long awaited Lost Halls rework is also finally here!

Also, we would like to make it clear that we're taking stalking, harassing and griefing other players seriously and have made some behind the scenes changes in order to prevent such behaviors. We will continue to do so.

As always, there are a bunch of new fixes. Plus, Thessal and her Coral Gifts have received the HP scaling treatment!

  • Fixed a bug with the Friends list hotkey after startup.
  • Fixed overflowing text in the Security Questions pop-up.

Balancing

  • Thessal the Mermaid Goddess and Coral Gifts now have HP scaling.
  • Thessal base HP: 96000 -> 69000
  • Coral Gift base HP: 1200 -> 23000
  • Ice Cave: Esben briefly stays invulnerable after spooky minions are cleared and said minions now have multi hit attacks in the final phase as well.

2018-05-30 Hotfix X.26.1.0

  • Disable Ally Shoot now disables animations as well, setting renamed from "On" to "All", added "Proj" setting to keep animations. The hotkey will still toggle between Off and All.
  • Fixed inventory slots remaining red after a trade or moving an item to the backpack.
  • Fixed guild tab not functioning at all under Social in certain cases.
  • Pausing is now disabled in realms for the time being.
  • Reduced the amount of Basaran shots during the final fight with Malus.
  • Fixed HP Scaling in the Void.
  • Adjusted Spectral Sentry EXP.

Something we failed to mention before:

  • Introducing the Axolotl, a new addition to common aquatic pets! It has Heal as its first ability.
  • The common humanoid pet Muddy Tidechaser now has Magic Heal as its first ability.
  • The common woodland pet Rat now has Heal as its first ability.
  • Fixed an issue where trying to hatch a pet would instead result in an error.

Patch X.25.0.0 - The Reworking

Hey everyone, Krathan here!

Today we finally bring you the Ice Cave rework, Mountain Temple changes and more fixes!

We're happy to announce that another legacy issue has been taken care of - you can now use your abilities when hovering the walls or void outside of dungeons, if they are not targeting tiles (the exceptions being Spells, Skulls, Poisons, Traps, Orbs and of course Prisms).

We also finally started rolling out some changes to address the long standing issue with damage thresholds. There are more to come and hopefully soon we will have unified and more co-op friendly loot distribution!

Ice Cave rework!

  • More enemy variety, with more threats and fewer bullet sponges
  • Changed dungeon generation to make clearing come more naturally (group is split across two paths)
  • Watch out for the new slippery damaging tiles in the main dungeon
  • Boss fight is now HP based rather than time based, certain phases are also more engaging (watch out for the summons!)
  • The chest has been removed, loot table and distribution has been fixed

  • Jade and Garnet Statues now drop Kageboshi
  • Increased the delay before the statues charge players: 1 -> 2.5
  • The statues now flash in light blue before charging players
  • The Encounter now always drops a portal to the Mountain Temple

Hi everyone,

A few days have passed since the vernal equinox, so it's high time we released our Spring update, aka the Magic Woods update! As most of you know, Magic Woods is the name of the newest dungeon, which is now available for you to play. Kudos to Toastrz for designing this dungeon with the precious help of Poshun’s artistic touch! We would like to thank all of the contributors (artists, testers) who have also helped to bring this dungeon to life.

With this update we are also activating Easter events, updating the Friends list interface and changing the appearance of the Nexus. Full details below!

Spring

  • Coming along with a UT Mystic set, the new low-mid level dungeon Magic Woods is now available and rarely drops from Ent Gods and Ent Ancients!
  • The Hanami Nexus is back!
  • Oryx's Frozen Castle finally thawed.

  • Increased Pet eggs drop rates across the Realm for the duration of the Events.

Easter

  • Main Event: Easter Egg Hunt March 29 - April 12

The Easter Egg Hunt has started again! Collect Magic Egg & Golden Egg tokens and trade them for guaranteed exclusive gear and skins!

You can collect Magic Egg tokens from egg baskets that are placed all around the realm, from an encounter with a certain Buffed Bunny after you destroy all 16 giant eggs in a given realm, and a variety of Chest Events!

With the help of the Tinkerer, you can turn in a total 10 stacks of Magic Eggs x10 every day to get a maximum of 20 Golden Eggs per day. The Golden Eggs can then be traded for guaranteed exclusive gear and skins!

Heads up!

  • The Feed Power value for all Character skins and Pet skins will be revised very soon. We want that value to be more consistent across the board and avoid unnecessary discrepancies. All of the soulbound skins will be worth 2000 FP, while the tradeable skins will be worth 500 FP. This means that, for instance, the skins that are worth 5000 FP will see their value lowered to 2000 FP. The same goes for Pet skins. If you have been holding onto any skins with plans to feed them to your pets in the future, start feeding them now before the update hits!

  • The release of the new low-mid level dungeon Magic Woods was the opportunity for us to take a look at the pricing of all dungeon keys, so we have decided to change the price for some of them, based on the difficulty and rarity of dungeons. I know, I know, we already had a patch last week. But today we're just releasing a bit of content, activating the St. Patrick’s event, fixing disconnection issues, removing a couple obsolete tokens from the game and giving you a heads up on upcoming events.

What's gone

  • Hearts & Love Letters tokens have been removed from the game

  • The February Platinum, Obsidian, Ruby & Gold Dungeon Shards have been removed from the game

  • O, R, Y, X tokens have been removed from the game

On a related note, we will proceed with removing more obsolete tokens in upcoming patches.

Patch X.23.0 - Assassin and Trickster Balance

Hello everyone,

We're happy to finally announce that assassins and tricksters are getting some serious love! Prisms and poisons are getting some well-needed improvements and fixes. We are also expanding and adding various options and improving a few other UI elements.

End of Valentine’s Events & Event Quests

We have deactivated Heart drops in the Realms, which means that you will no longer be able to acquire Hearts as drops. However, Quests will remain active until 03/11 for you to turn in Hearts and Love Letters.

If you have not turned in your Dungeon Shards and ORYX Letters yet, make sure to do it before 03/11 as well. After that date, Weekly Dungeon and Monthly Challenge quests for March will be deactivated.

Later this month, we will remove all March tokens and Valentine’s tokens from the game (Hearts, Love Letters, Dungeon Shards & ORYX Letters).

The events were both extended by a week compared to their previously announced duration.

New

  • Curse indications are back! Curse now changes the enemy's glow and no longer conflicts with Stasis. There is also a new Curse Indication option to toggle this (under Experimental).
  • When an Encounter spawns, all players that fulfill its level requirement receive a quest update.
  • HP Bar options have been expanded from Off/On to Off/All/Enemy/Self&Enemy/Self/Ally. The hotkey will only toggle between Off/All, always to Off if any other option is selected.
  • Force EXP options have been expanded: Off/On/Self.
  • Fame/HP/MP bar text options have been expanded: Off/All/Fame/HP&MP.
  • New toggle hotkey for Ally Projectiles (default N, under Graphics).
  • New toggle hotkey for Particle Master (default M, under Graphics).
  • Moved the Friends button next to the Nexus/Options button.
  • Fame Overview: added missing stats and fixed calculation errors.
  • Fame Overview: completed dungeons now have their own tab with icons.
  • Daily Quest: added tabs (Quests/Events) and visual cleanup. Quest Rewards can also offer a choice now.

We're happy to announce that today marks the opening of a new server cluster for Australia! With that, we also moved some of the server clusters in new physical locations in order to improve latency per region. These changes mainly affect some of the US servers.

Events

Are you ready for a Dungeon Challenge this month? It’s your chance to get your hands on some FP, Cosmetics, ST parts and the exclusive Turtle Knight Skin!

Every week of February, a different dungeon will host a Chest Event:

  • Events will start on 02/02/2018.
  • In order: Undead Lair (week 1), Davy Jones's Locker (week 2), Woodland Labyrinth (week 3) and Puppet Master's Theatre (week 4).
  • Defeat the Boss of the Dungeon to spawn the Reward Chest and a chance to collect a Shard or other rewards.
  • Collect a stack of 10 Shards and bring it to the Tinkerer to receive the weekly Dungeon trinket.
  • At the end of the month, you will be able to turn all 4 trinkets in and qualify for the Monthly Dungeon Challenge rewards!
  • Dungeon Shards and Trinkets will disappear after this month.

More Events are coming mid-months with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, stay tuned!

  • Adjusted behaviors of various enemies in the Realm to ensure they stay in their biome or set-piece: all parasitic enemies from Infected Buildings, Headless Horseman, Kage Kami and Great Coil Snake.
  • Added health bars to Mad Lab's Tesla Coils and Attack Turrets, as well as Ice Cave's Cursed Graves.
  • Dr Terrible now uses an attack animation for throwing potions and deploying turrets.

Patch X.21.0 Public Faming

January 9

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

With this update, we are thrilled to introduce a new Quality of Life feature. Whenever you are in the Nexus or on the Character Selection screen, you can now access a new panel and see the character's lifetime statistics!

This information has been stored by us forever, but previously players could only see it when their characters died or by using third party tools. It felt like this sort of data should be easier for players to access! Additionally, this panel lists all of the current achievements that grant players bonus Fame upon death, another piece of previously hidden data. Hopefully, this will make the Fame System a little less opaque to you.

This update has given us an opportunity to take a hard look at this current set of Achievements; and we think they could be better. We have not made many changes yet, but are planning to, in a future release, update the Achievements to be less arbitrary and exploitable, and hopefully more fun and engaging. We know that Fame is an important resource to players, and there are many of you who spent hours optimizing how much fame your character would earn - eventually making it to the Leaderboards.

Stay tuned for some more in the next updates and in the meantime, share with us your feedback on that new feature, how it can be improved and continue sharing with us ideas of changes you would wish for the Bonus Fame Achievements.

End of Oryxmas Events

The Oryxmas celebrations have come to an end.

  • The Permafrost Lord no longer spawns in the Realms.
  • Encounters and quests now have their normal sprites back.
  • Reskinned abilities and other items no longer drop from Events.
  • Tokens (Ice Shards, Primal Ice, Ornaments and Bells) no longer drop from Encounters and quests.
  • Tokens can still be used to claim rewards if you have a full stack.
  • Reindeer companions no longer grant buffs when activated but can still be summoned.
  • Santa's Workshop can still be accessed if you use a key, tokens still drop from Santa's Workshop.
  • Event Quests will remain available for an extra week, allowing you to turn in your Primal Ice for weapons as well as Ice Shards for Primal Ice and SW keys (until 01-15-18).

New Feature: Statistics Panel

You can now access a new Statistics panel in-game by either clicking on the Fame icon (Character selection screen) or on the (i) button next to fame on the GUI.

The panel displays information on your current character's performance:

  • Statistics (number of shots, abilities used, gods killed, etc.)
  • Fame bonuses (status locked/unlocked, fame gain from each bonus, etc.)
  • Total Fame on Death

The statistics displayed in the panel are updated each time you enter the Nexus or go back to the Character selection screen.

Character creation date will only apply for new characters created after today and display "Unknown" for older characters. Because it was not functioning correctly, the Legacy Builder achievement has been disabled.

Quality of Life

  • Added Shop Button on HUD for direct access from within the Nexus, replacing the old packages button.
  • Added (i) and (+) Button on the Resources to have a direct call to action for the new Fame UI and to Buy Gold.

Fixes

  • Fixed player limit issue when attempting to use portals that lead to the Nexus or Realm.
  • Fixed certain dungeons not counting towards the Dungeons Completed counter.
