Income properties allow you to generate hourly income. You will need to come back occasionally to collect your earnings before it reaches the maximum threshold, otherwise you will only be able to generate 20% of your normal property income. Upgrade the Safehouse to increase this maximum threshold. 

Upgrade properties provide upgrades that will benefit you in various areas of the game. For example, upgrading the Construction Company reduces the time it takes to build properties.
