Passwords provide the first line of defense against unauthorized access to your computer. The stronger your password, the more protected you will be.

Create a strong password:

• At least eight characters long.
• Do not use your user name, or real name.
• Avoid using a complete word.
• Don’t use previous passwords.

Use a combination of all the following:

• Both upper and lower case letters
• Numbers
• Special characters ( ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ + = { [ } ] : ; < , > . ? / )

Try to use different passwords for different online accounts. It is not recommended that you use one password across all the websites, Games or Applications you log into.

It is best to use a fairly random string of letters, numbers, and special characters, but don't make it so complicated you can't remember it!


Help yourself remember your strong password by following these tips!

Create an acronym from an easy-to-remember piece of information. Pick a phrase that is meaningful to you, and rearrange the letters, dates, or numbers.

You can also substitute numbers, symbols, and misspellings for letters or words in an easy-to-remember phrase.

If you feel that you must write down your password in order to remember it, make sure you don't label it as your password, and keep it in a safe place.
