Getting Started

The wizards of DragonVale are coming together to celebrate another fantastic year of dragons and magic, and everyone is invited!

Your park must be at least level 11 to participate in this event, which began on December 19th, 2019. If you’re above level 11 and the event hasn’t started for you, you may be playing on an older version of DragonVale. Please update to the most recent version through your device's app store. The correct version for the event is 4.18.0.

Runic Breeding Caves

vid_cave.png

See how many different dragons you can breed in the Runic Breeding Caves! The resulting egg from each breed in a Runic Breeding Cave will be exchanged for Iceberries.

Longer breed times will award more Iceberries than shorter times, and breeding new dragon types will provide an extra bonus of Iceberries. All breeds in Runic Breeding Caves are reduced in time and can be sped up with Gems.

Please note that the cost to speed up a breed in a Runic Breeding Cave will increase with each use.

All the dragons you breed in Runic Breeding Caves will be logged in the Egg History, and you can choose ONE of these dragons to keep for each cave that you have activated. You can access your Egg History at any time by tapping on a Runic Breeding Cave, then tapping the "Egg History" icon at the bottom of the screen.

Additional Runic Breeding Caves

Every player will have one Runic Breeding Cave to start with, and will be given a bonus Runestone to activate a second cave during the tutorial. This bonus cave will be available to use for a period of one week.

On Double Iceberry days players will be given a second cave to breed in. On Triple Iceberry days, each player will have two bonus Runic Breeding Caves available to use. Each cave will generate Iceberries, and you can claim 1 free egg from each Runic Breeding Cave that was activated in your park.

You can also purchase Runestones in the Market that will allow you to activate more Runic Breeding Caves. These caves will last for a period of one week from the time of activation.

It is important to note that reactivating the same cave will not allow you to claim more than one egg to keep from that cave.

Choosing a Free Dragon from your Runic Breeding Caves

You can select the eggs you want to keep at any point during the event, but please choose carefully as this choice is final and you will not be able to change your selection. You can choose 1 egg to keep from each Runic Breeding Cave that was activated in your park.

Collecting Prizes

prizes.jpg

The Mirthful Market can be found on the event island and contains all the prizes that can be earned in the event. Prizes are divided into several collections and collecting more unique prizes will unlock more prize collections.

Exchanging Iceberries for Prizes

  • Visit the Mirthful Market and tap the Prizes icon
  • View available prizes by tapping each of the different collections
  • A counter on each prize will show you how many of that item you currently own. Please note that dragons that have not yet been hatched will not be counted.
  • Collect the required number of unique prizes to unlock higher tiers

Unlocking Additional Prize Collections

Collecting more unique prizes will unlock the higher tiers. The number of unique prizes required to unlock each tier is visible within the Mirthful Market. If you already own an item from one of the prize collections it will count towards unlocking higher tiers. Please note that multiples of the same item do not count towards unlocking higher tiers.

Evolving Dragons

Certain dragons can only be obtained by transforming existing dragons in your park. To summon one of these dragons, you'll need to obtain all 10 unique decorations required for the desired dragon.

decos.png

More information on how to summon these dragons can be found in their breeding hints. Breeding hints can be accessed by tapping on any of the breeding areas in the game, then tapping on the "Breeding Hints" icon.

Obtaining Decorations

The decorations needed to evolve certain dragons can be acquired from the Toy Chests found within the Mirthful Market. Chests purchased in the Market are guaranteed to contain a decoration you don't already own, unless you already own all of the holiday evolution decorations.

Evolution decorations can also be won randomly in the Golden Chests found in Mini Games. Please note that these are not guaranteed to be decorations you don't already own, and you may receive duplicates.

Evolving a Dragon

evolution-1.jpg   evolution-2.jpg   evolution-3.jpg

If you've collected all 10 colors of the required decorations, and have the necessary base dragon in your park, you can evolve that dragon using the steps below. The base dragon you need can be found in the in-game breeding hints.

Breeding hints can be accessed by tapping on any of the breeding areas in the game, then tapping on the "Breeding Hints" icon.

  1. Make sure you've collected all 10 colors of the required decorations and placed them in your park
  2. Locate the dragon you wish to evolve and tap on it
  3. Tap the "Evolve" icon at the bottom of the dragon's info card
  4. In the pop up menu, tap to select the type of dragon you wish to evolve to, then tap the confirm button
  5. Tap the "Evolve" button to transform your dragon. Please note that evolving a dragon will cost 100 Gems

It is important to note that when you transform one of your dragons it will evolve into a new dragon, and the original dragon will no longer be available in your park. Please keep this in mind if you only have one of the dragon you wish to evolve.

Activities & Games

Fort of Frivolity

games1.jpg     games2.jpg

The Fort of Frivolity contains three different mini games - Name that Egg, Dragon Drop, and Magic Tap. You'll get 5 free plays in the Fort of Frivolity every 12 hours. Please note that these plays are shared between all games.

Name That EggShow off your DragonVale knowledge when you take this multiple choice challenge. Win Iceberries when you guess correctly!

Dragon Drop - A game of chance, Pachinko style! Tap to drop the coin and win Iceberries!

Magic TapTest your reflexes and earn Iceberries with Magic Tap! You'll have 10 seconds to tap as many Iceberries and ornaments as you can. Watch out for bombs or else it's game over!

Buying More Plays

After you use your last available play at the Fort of Frivolity you will have the option to purchase an additional play for 5 Gems. Purchasing an additional play is entirely optional and you will still receive your 5 free plays every 12 hours as usual.

Golden Chests

golden-chest.png

Sometimes mini-games contain a Golden Chest that will provide special rewards. You'll always have a small chance to find a Golden Chest when playing games, but buying an additional play gives a 100% chance of a Golden Chest appearing on your next turn. Please note that this only guarantees that the chest will appear, and not that you will be able to win the chest.

Arctic Amphitheater

Similar to cooperative breeding, you can team up with friends’ dragons to compete in challenges and win Iceberries!

amphitheater.png

  • Challenges will last 6 hours each
  • You may complete up to 4 challenges per day
  • Choose the best dragons for the challenge by matching the dragons' elements to the elements of the current challenge

Sandakloz & Hidden Presents

npcs.png

Each day Sandakloz will hide presents around your park. You will know when there are presents to be found when you see the snowy border around the Visitors icon. You can also find Sandakloz himself, so be sure to tap him for extra Iceberries!

Glacial Giftery

 giftery-1.jpg     giftery-2.jpg

The Glacial Giftery rewards you for each day you play during the event. Earn free Iceberries, Treats, and other great prizes!

  • Check in each day for magical rewards and special surprises!
  • If you miss a day, don’t worry, you can spend a few gems to catch up. You cannot collect a day’s reward in advance.
  • You only have to log into DragonVale each day to be eligible for the reward. If you log in, but forget to visit the Glacial Giftery, your reward will still be available to collect the next time you visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why hasn’t the event begun in my park yet?

Your park must be at least level 11 to participate in this event, which began on December 19th, 2019.

If you’re above level 11 and the event hasn’t started for you, you may be playing on an older version of DragonVale. Please update to the most recent version through your device's app store. The correct version for the event is 4.18.0.

What is the daily limit of Iceberries?

There is no overall daily limit on Iceberries in this event, but the maximum amount of Iceberries you can earn by collecting from habitats is 500 per day on a regular day, 1000 on a double day, and 1500 per day on a triple day.

Why am I not receiving Iceberries when I collect from my habitats?

If you are no longer earning any Iceberries when you collect from habitats that would indicate that you have reached your habitat limit for the day.

What happens to the eggs I breed in a Runic Breeding Cave?

The resulting egg from each breed in a Runic Breeding Cave will be exchanged for Iceberries. All the dragons you breed will be logged in your Egg History, and you can choose ONE of these dragons to keep from each Runic Breeding Cave you have activated.

How many eggs can I claim from my Runic Breeding Caves?

You can choose one egg to keep from each Runic Breeding Cave that was activated in your park. This includes the default cave, the bonus caves on double and triple days, the cave you activated as part of the tutorial, and any other caves you activate with additional Runestones. You can select the eggs you want to keep at any point during the event, but please choose carefully as this choice is final.

I forgot to claim my egg from one of my Runic Breeding Caves before it expired. Can I still claim it?

Yes, once you have activated a Runic Breeding Cave you can claim your free egg from that cave at any time during the event, even if the cave is no longer activated.

When is my last chance to use my claims in the Runic Breeding Caves?

You must use your claims before the event ends on January 27th at 11am Mountain Time.

How do I earn more Runestones?

Runestones can be purchased in the Market. Purchasing Runestones will allow you to activate additional Runic Breeding Caves.

How do I collect evolution decorations?

The decorations needed to evolve certain dragons can be acquired from the Toy Chests found within the Mirthful Market. Chests purchased in the Market are guaranteed to contain a decoration you don't already own, unless you already own all of the holiday evolution decorations.

Evolution decorations can also be won randomly in the Golden Chests found in Mini Games. Please note that these are not guaranteed to be decorations you don't already own, and you may receive duplicates.

Why did I receive a decoration I already own?

Golden Chests won in mini-games and chests received from friends may contain duplicates. However, the Toy Chests purchased in the Mirthful Market are guaranteed to contain a decoration that you do not already own.

What happens to my original dragon after I evolve it into another dragon?

When you transform one of your dragons it will evolve into an entirely new dragon, and the original dragon will be gone from your park forever. Please keep this in mind if you only have one of the dragon you wish to evolve.

Can evolution dragons be bred?

Dragons that can be obtained via evolution can only be bred if both parent dragons are the target dragon. For example, Sugarplum + Sugarplum has a chance of producing another Sugarplum Dragon, but Sugarplum + another dragon does not.

Can I evolve one of the new dragons after the event ends?

As long as you have collected all 10 required decorations, and have the necessary base dragon, you can evolve that dragon at any time.

Why didn't I win the Golden Chest when I bought an additional play at the Fort of Frivolity?

Buying an additional play guarantees that a Golden Chest will appear as one of the possible prizes in that round, but does not guarantee that you will be able to win it. Please note that in Name that Egg you must answer correctly before the timer expires in order to win the Golden Chest.

When does the Jolly Jubilee end?

The Jolly Jubilee has been extended and will now run through January 26th, and conclude on January 27th at 11am Mountain Time. When the event ends, the Mirthful Market will remain open for 2 extra days so you can spend any leftover Iceberries you may have.

When does the Mirthful Market close?

The Mirthful Market will close on January 29th at 11am Mountain Time and it will not be possible to claim event prizes after this time.

What happens to my leftover Iceberries at the end of the Jolly Jubilee?

After the Mirthful Market closes, we'll turn any leftover Iceberries into DragonCash at the rate of 1,000 DragonCash per 1 Iceberry.
