Getting Started
An unpredictable energy is floating up from the Surface and adult Valers are turning to stone! Kai and Ellie, the most confident of the young folk, discover new, fantastic dragons that can harness this energy and transform into alternate versions called Spellforms.
Your park must be at least level 11 to participate in this event, which began on June 20th, 2019. If you’re above level 11 and the event hasn’t started for you, you may be playing on an older version of DragonVale. Please update to the most recent version through your device's app store. The correct version for the event is 4.15.0.
Earning Magic
During this event Magic can be earned in a variety of ways. Magic can then be exchanged for fabulous prizes at the Bizarre Bazaar!

- Collecting from habitats (maximum of 500 Magic per day on a regular day, and 1000 per day on a double day)
- Breeding dragons
- Incubating dragons
- Hatching dragons
- Selling newly-hatched dragons
- Purchasing dragons with Gems
- Playing games in Gardenia's Gamery
- Placing dragons in the Parade Gardens (goes into the same "bucket" as habitat collection and is subject to the habitat cap of 500 Magic per day on a regular day, and 1000 per day on a double day)

Collecting Magic After You've Reached the Daily Cap
It is important to note that you can continue to contribute Magic towards the community rewards after you've reached your daily cap. This additional Magic is not added to your personal total, but will be added to your community contribution. Once the community collects enough Magic you'll all be given a prize!
Purchasing Magic
Magic can also be purchased through the Market. Purchased Magic does not count against your daily collection limit.
Collecting Prizes
The Bizarre Bazaar contains all the prizes that can be earned in the event and can be found on the event island. Prizes are divided into different collections, and collecting more unique prizes will unlock additional prize collections.
Exchanging Magic for Prizes
- Visit the Bizarre Bazaar and tap the Prizes icon
- View available prizes by tapping each of the different collections
- A counter on each prize will show you how many of that item you currently own. Please note that dragons that have not yet been hatched will not be counted.
Unlocking Prize Collections
Collecting unique prizes will unlock additional collections. The number of unique prizes required to unlock each collection is visible within the Bizarre Bazaar. If you already own an item from one of the prize collections it will count towards unlocking higher tiers. Please note that multiples of the same item do not count towards unlocking higher tiers.
Spellforms
Certain new dragons can be customized using the power of Spellforms. Each of these dragons can be enhanced with 2 different Spellforms - Organic and Conjured - and each Spellform is made up of several different pieces.
It is important to note that Spellforms can only be applied to certain dragons. Dragons that can be enhanced with Spellforms are indicated by a mask icon in the lower right corner of their info card, and can be found in the "Enhanced" section of the Dragonarium.
Acquiring the New Dragons
Before you can purchase one of these new dragons from the Bizarre Bazarre you must collect all the Spellform pieces from at least one of its two sets. Once you have collected all the Spellform pieces from at least one set, the associated dragon will unlock and be available for you to purchase in the Bizarre Bazaar.
Obtaining Spellform Pieces
Spellform pieces can be acquired from the Spellform Energy Chests found in the Mighty section of the Bizarre Bazaar. Energy Chests are guaranteed to contain a Spellform piece that you do not already own, unless you already own all Spellform pieces.
You can also obtain Spellform pieces from the Golden Chests found in mini-games. While a Golden Chest won in a mini-game may contain a Spellform piece, please be aware that these may be duplicates.
Once you have discovered a Spellform piece, that piece will then be unlocked in the Bizarre Bazaar so you can purchase more if you choose. You may want additional Spellform pieces if you have more than one dragon you would like to enhance with a Spellform.
The Altar of Alteration
You can keep track of your Spellform collection using the Altar of Alteration. Once you collect this building from your gifts menu and place it in your park you can use it to view all the Spellforms you've acquired. This is also where you can apply Spellforms to your dragons.
Please note that a Spellform piece will not be shown as owned in the Altar of Alteration until you have collected it from your gifts menu.
Applying a Spellform
Once you've acquired enough Spellform pieces to purchase one of the new dragons, you can enhance that dragon with the Spellforms you've collected. You can apply an individual Spellform piece, an entire Spellform set, or mix and match pieces from both sets.
Here's how:
- Make sure you've collected a dragon that can be enhanced with Spellforms. These dragons are indicated by a mask icon in the lower right corner of their info card.
- Tap the Altar of Alteration
- Tap the "Enhancements" icon at the bottom of the screen
- Tap the "Select Dragon" button on the left side of the enhancements menu
- In the pop up menu, tap to select the dragon you wish to apply a Spellform to, then tap the "Select" button. A dragon must be at least level 4 to have a Spellform applied.
- Tap the Spellform pieces you wish to apply to the dragon. You may select individual pieces, or apply/remove a whole set of pieces using the "Equip All" and "Remove All" icons.
- Spellforms can be changed at any time by returning to the Altar of Alteration, or by tapping the mask icon in the lower right corner of a dragon's info card
Activities & Games
Gardenia's Gamery
Gardenia's Gamery contains four different mini-games - Name that Dragon, Dragon Drop, Magic Tap, and Name that Egg. You'll get 5 free plays in Gardenia's Gamery every 12 hours. Please note that these plays are shared between all games.
Name that Dragon - Recognize that shadowy figure? Guess the dragon correctly to win Magic!
Dragon Drop - A game of chance, Pachinko style! Tap to drop the coin and win Magic!
Magic Tap - Test your reflexes and earn Magic with Magic Tap! You'll have 10 seconds to tap as much Magic as you can. Watch out for bombs or else it's game over!
Name That Egg - Show off your DragonVale knowledge when you take this multiple choice challenge. Win Magic when you guess correctly!
Buying More Plays
After you use your last available play at Gardenia's Gamery you will have the option to purchase an additional play for 5 Gems. Purchasing an additional play is entirely optional and you will still receive your 5 free plays every 12 hours as usual. Please note that if you are already at your daily limit, any Magic won by buying additional plays will be applied to your community contribution only.
Golden Chests
Sometimes mini-games contain a Golden Chest that will provide special rewards, and maybe even a Spellform piece! You'll always have a small chance to find a Golden Chest when playing games, but buying an additional play gives you a 100% chance of finding a Golden Chest on your next turn. Please note that this only guarantees that the chest will appear, and not that you will be able to win the chest.
It is important to note that while Golden Chests may contain a Spellform piece, this is not guaranteed to be a piece that you do not already own.
Parade Gardens
Assemble dragons at the Parade Gardens and they will journey to the Rift in search of additional Magic. You can add up to 5 dragons and switch them out at any time. The Parade Gardens can hold a maximum of 60 Magic (120 on a double day). Once the Parade Gardens has collected the maximum amount of Magic you will need to collect that accumulated Magic in order to earn more Magic.
To place dragons in the Parade Gardens:
- Tap the Parade Gardens
- Tap the "Visit" icon at the bottom of the screen
- Tap on up to 5 dragons, then tap the "Set" button
- To remove dragons, tap on the dragons you wish to remove, tap any other dragons you wish to add, then tap the "Set" button
Wizard Statues
The Wizards and Witches of the 'Vale have been turned to stone by the strange energy creeping up from the Surface. Find them in your park each day and earn Magic by trying to free them. You will know there are wizard statues to find when you see the green border around your visitors icon.
Glacial Giftery
The Glacial Giftery rewards you for each day you play during the event. Earn free Magic and other great prizes!
- Check in each day for magical rewards and special surprises!
- If you miss a day, don’t worry, you can spend a few gems to catch up. You cannot collect a day’s reward in advance.
- You only have to log in to DragonVale each day to be eligible for the reward. If you log in, but forget to visit the Glacial Giftery, your reward will still be available to collect the next time you visit.
Community Rewards
During the Secrets of Spellform, all Magic you collect in your park counts towards earning prizes for everyone in the DragonVale community.
You can see how much Magic you've earned for the community at any time by tapping the Bizarre Bazaar, then tapping the "progress" icon. The progress bar there represents the community contribution from all DragonVale players.
Once the community has earned enough Magic, a reward will be given to everyone who contributed. After a reward is given, the progress bar will reset and start counting towards the next reward.
It is important to note that you can continue to contribute Magic towards the community reward after you've reached your daily cap. This additional Magic is not added to your personal total, but will be added to your community contribution.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why hasn’t the event begun in my park yet?
Your park must be at least level 11 to participate in this event, which began on June 20th, 2019.
If you’re above level 11 and the event hasn’t started for you, you may be playing on an older version of DragonVale. Please update to the most recent version through your device's app store. The correct version for the event is 4.15.0.
What is the daily limit of Magic?
Magic is normally limited to 1000 per day, but be on the lookout for special occasions where there is more Magic available! Purchases in the Market are not affected by the daily limit. Please note that you can continue to earn Magic for the DragonVale community even after you've hit your personal limit for the day.
Why am I not receiving Magic when I collect from my habitats?
The amount of Magic you can receive by collecting from habitats is capped at 500 per day on a regular day, and 1000 per day on a double day. Please note that Magic from the Parade Gardens is also subject to this cap.
When can I collect more Magic?
Your daily cap for Magic will reset each day at 11am Mountain Time. Check in each day for more Magic and more chances to earn prizes!
Why can't I buy the new dragons?
Before you can purchase a new event dragon you need to collect all the Spellform pieces from at least one of that dragon's two Spellform sets. Spellform pieces can be acquired from the Energy Chests in the Bizarre Bazaar, and may also be found in Golden Chests won in mini-games. Once you've completed a Spellform set, the associated dragon will be available for you to purchase in the Bizarre Bazaar.
How do I purchase the Spellform Pieces in the Incredible section of the Bizarre Bazaar?
Before you can purchase a Spellform piece in the Bizarre Bazaar you must first discover that piece in a Spellform Energy Chest or a Golden Chest won in a mini-game. After you've collected a Spellform piece you can then purchase more of that piece if you wish.
Can I receive duplicate Spellform pieces from a Spellform Energy Chest?
Energy Chests purchased in the Bizarre Bazaar are guaranteed to contain a Spellform piece that you do not already own, unless you already own all available Spellform pieces. However, a Golden Chest won in a mini-game may award a Spellform piece that you already own.
Am I guaranteed to receive a Spellform piece from a Golden Chest won in a mini-game?
You can receive several different rewards from Golden Chests, including Spellform pieces, but these rewards are selected randomly so you are not guaranteed to receive a Spellform piece from every Golden Chest.
Can I apply a Spellform to more than one dragon?
A single Spellform set or piece can only be applied to one dragon at a time. For example, if you have two Riptide Dragons, but only one Spellform set, you can only apply the Spellform to one of your Riptide Dragons.
However, you can mix and match the individual Spellform pieces, so you could apply the head and tail piece to one of the dragons, and then apply the wings and legs to the other dragon.
Can I collect more than one of each Spellform piece?
Yes, you can collect more than one of each Spellform piece or set. You may want to do this if you have more than one dragon and would like to apply a Spellform to each of them.
What level does a dragon need to be to have a Spellform applied?
A dragon must be at least level 4 before it can be enhanced with a Spellform.
Will I be able to use my Spellforms after the event ends?
Yes, once you collect a Spellform it will be available for you to use indefinitely.
Why didn't I win the Golden Chest when I bought an additional play at Gardenia's Gamery?
Buying an additional play guarantees that a Golden Chest will appear as one of the possible prizes in that round, but does not guarantee that you will be able to win it. Please note that when playing Name That Egg or Name that dragon you must answer correctly before the timer expires in order to win the Golden Chest.
When does the Secrets of Spellform event end?
You'll be able to collect Magic as long as Kai and Ellie are able to hold up their island. When their wizarding strength weakens, they'll warn you that things may come to an end. When the event does end, the Bizarre Bazaar will remain open for a few extra days so you can spend any leftover Magic you may have.
What happens to my leftover Magic at the end of the Secrets of Spellform event?
After the event ends and the Bizarre Bazaar closes, we'll turn any leftover Magic into DragonCash at the rate of 1,000 DragonCash per 1 Magic.
